Surrealist abstraction
The monumental Sun-Man sculpture was created by Jorge Vieira. With a height of around 20 metres and weighing 15 tons, it is an anthropomorphic structure inspired by the Sun.
This piece is regarded as a kind of summarised testament to the creator’s work, a symbiosis between surrealism and abstraction, explored three-dimensionally.
Jorge Ricardo da Conceição Vieira was born in Lisbon, on 16th November 1922 and died in Évora in 1998.
